Building Your Prompt Library

Prompts saved today, time saved every session after.

Why you need the Prompt Library

Every time you start a Legal AI Assistant session from scratch, you spend time reconstructing something you've already figured out. If it worked once, you should not have to rewrite it.

The Prompt Library is where you keep the prompts that worked. That way, you open a session, select a prompt that fits your task, then get started right away!

What makes a prompt worth saving

Not every prompt belongs in the library. The ones that do pass one test: the response came back exactly the way you needed it the first time.If you had to re-ask, rephrase, orclean up the output before you could use it, the prompt is not ready to save.Refine it first.

If it took a few tries to get what you needed, ask the Assistant to provide you with a prompt that could’ve gotten your final response the very first time, then save that.

How to save a prompt

Saving a prompt takes less than a minute!

Get started with these prompts

Below are five prompts that cover common task types. Use them as-is or adapt them to your practice area before saving.

Remember to replace brackets with the specifics of your matter before you run the prompt.

Document Summarization

Summarize this [document type] for [client name/matter]. The partner needs to quickly understand the document before a client call. Include: parties and effective date, primary obligations, key deadlines, financial terms, and provisions requiring immediate attention. Format as a one-page executive summary.

Information Extraction

Identify and extract each item from the following list. If an item cannot be located, state "Not Found". For items that are found, limit each response to one paragraph with specific citations: [Item 1 - Definition/description of what to find] [Item 2 - Definition/description of what to find] [Item 3 - Definition/description of what to find]. If multiple documents are provided, organize your findings by document name, listing each item and its extracted information under the corresponding document heading.

You may also ask the Assistant to help you draft a prompt to get specificresults. The best version of your prompt goes into your Prompt Library.

Keep it growing

The library is only useful if it continues to grow. One habit keeps it current: before you close a session, look at the prompts you ran. If one returned exactly what you needed, save it. Remember, you can ask the Assistant to help you create a prompt, then save that.
