Web Search for Admins

Bring public information into your team's Assistant questions, with the data handling details you need to decide with confidence.

Web search lets the Assistant search the public internet, through Microsoft Bing, to answer questions your documents cannot. It is an Early Access feature and it is off by default.

You decide whether it fits your organization, and your users approve every search before it runs.

Turn on Web search

1

Open AI Settings & Usage

In the “Admin Console,” go to “AI Settings & Usage” and make sure the “Early Access Channel” is on.
2

Find Web search

Under “Early Access,” “Features,” locate the “Web search” toggle. It is off by default.
3

Review the notice and turn it on

Read the data handling notice, then turn on “Web search.” Turning it on means you accept the notice shown on that page.

Processing region

Queries are governed by Bing and Microsoft terms, not Azure OpenAI data residency guarantees, and may be processed outside your selected region.

User consent

Users see the exact query before it is sent and choose Deny, Allow Once, or Allow for Session. Session permission applies to that thread only.

Unverified results

Results come from third-party websites. NetDocuments does not verify them, and they may be incomplete, outdated, or misleading.

Web search is one of the features in the Early Access Channel. As more features are released, each one will have its own guide for admins and users.
